REDBOOK: Let's talk about your hair. How do you keep it so lush and healthy?
SARAH JESSICA PARKER: It's funny, when someone asks me for a beauty tip, I say, "I shower at night and sleep on wet hair. That's my tip." [Laughs] I don't know how to give myself a blow-out. I'm lucky enough to work with professionals who make my hair look good. [Hairstylist] Serge Normant is a dear friend; I'll mist his Dream Big Volumizing Spray on my damp waves—it smells great. Once a week, I wash with Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo, a clarifying formula.

RB: What about your 6-year-old twin daughters, Loretta and Tabitha—do you style their hair?
SJP: They can braid their own hair really well, but I gave them their first haircuts last year. I learned a lesson from my son James Wilkie's first trim: I let someone else do it, and the next day, he said, "Mom, this is a terrible cut, isn't it?" I couldn't lie; I just said, "I'm so sorry." So when Loretta asked me to cut her hair, we did it in baby steps: a half-inch first, then sarah jessica parker hair a little more.
RB: What's your daily skin-care regimen?
SJP: I'm so bad, because I wash my face with whatever soap is lying around, and when I'm in the shower I'll just use shampoo. I've been applying the same moisturizer, La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluide, morning and night for years. It's light, fragrance-free, and never feels greasy on my skin.
RB: Do you wear makeup every day?
SJP: Not a lot; I don't even own a foundation or lipstick. I dab on Chanel Correcteur Perfection concealer, then a clear-ish, slightly sparkly lip gloss from Lancôme or Dior. I love Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour: It blends easily, but then it stays put. I rarely wear mascara—only for the red carpet.
RB: You just came out with your third fragrance, Lovely Sheer. Tell us about it.
SJP: It's been 10 years since we launched the original Lovely. This new version is lighter and a little more refreshing, with notes of orange blossom, mandarin, bergamot, and gardenia. I just adore fragrance—I can't leave the house without putting on a scent, even when I'm at my most minimal and rugged. I have bottles of perfume in every handbag.
RB: You get interviewed quite often, but what do you like to ask people when you first meet them?
SJP: I love learning about someone. When I was little, I would stare at people on the subway and my father would scold me, but I couldn't help it, I was just so interested. I like to know how your day unfolds—what do you do when you wake up? Do you finish books? I want to know everything! Curiosity makes your world so much richer.
